Fifth Avenue Medical Associates, LLC (FAMA) is a medical group practice licensed in New York State. We provide psychiatric and chemical dependency treatment services to people suffering from mental illness and drug addiction. We provide these services using Telemedicine Technology. We meet the most recent New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH) standards for providing Telepsychiatry services and the most recent Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) standards for prescribing controlled substances via Telemedicine to treat drug addiction.
Our Team: Our panel of health professionals includes psychiatrists, board certified addiction specialists and physicians licensed by the DEA to prescribe controlled substances to treat drug addiction (i.e., buprenorphine). Our physicians are drawn from a pool of physicians that live and work in the center of New York City where there is a large concentration of highly trained physicians and specialists. FAMA's Telemedicine platform is located at 745 Fifth Avenue, New York, N.Y. (between 57th and 58th Street on 5th Avenue).
Our Work: On April 30, 2018, Fifth Avenue Medical Associates was one of a select group of Telepsychiatry vendors awarded a five (5) year contract to provide Telepsychiatry services to the New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH). Through a competitive process, our organization demonstrated we have the experience and organizational capacity to provide Telepsychiatry treatment services to patients at OMH’s 23 clinics located throughout New York State.
Our Mission: At Fifth Avenue Medical Associates, LLC, we take the position that mental illness and drug addiction are chronic diseases. People suffering from mental illness and drug addiction should be treated no differently than people suffering from other chronic illnesses like hypertension, diabetes, asthma, arthritis. Like all other chronic illnesses, mental illness and drug addiction are treatable diseases.
With this in mind, our mission is to increase access to the most advanced treatments available to people suffering from mental illness and drug addiction, make mental illness and drug addiction screening, diagnosis and treatment part of routine care within the health profession and eliminate the stigma associated with drug addiction and mental illness. To accomplish this, Fifth Avenue Medical Associates, LLC uses Telemedicine technology to build the capacity of treatment providers located in underserved communities. Through this medium, we provide psychiatric and chemical dependency services to their patients that is efficient, affordable and sustainable over time.
